There will be no more online gambling for Second Life - as online slots, blackjack, poker, roulette, poker, etc. will all be banned effective immediately. The idea was that people could play these games as well as create internet businesses, etc. and have a new forum in which to do so.
But the virtual currency can be exchanged or sold for real money, thus leaving the government to say that the online slots, etc. played at Second Life constituted gambling and thus violated the UIGEA, so it had to be stopped.
Linden Lab released a statement saying that all online casino games such as online slots, etc. would now be banned - as would anything that involved betting on games that "rely on chance or random number generation to determine a winner." They also included sports betting as well.
